JW Acoustic Band

David James “Jess Wingenette” first got that name many years ago as many of the shows were not scripted.  These shows were entirely audience driven.  Over the years he has developed several projects from duo’s to full dance bands to include Tami Poortman from Finaleyes,  Seth Taylor and now performing as a duo with Richard Erbe.  Virgi Dart with her larger than life presence adds that Latin flare.  Now add Mitch Weiner “ percussionist “  Mitch brings with him a plethora of sounds which gives a unique sound to this new group.  Keeping true to the “Jess Wingenette” idea of interactive and engaging performances which encourage audience participation  they have formed the “JW Acoustic Band.  These four have a repertoire that spans all genres from the 50’s to present rock, funk and country.

Biography

Born and raised in Mission, Kansas David would relocate to Colorado after returning from Europe stationed in Germany with the United States Army.
It was in 1998 David would join alliances with local musician Kurt Linn and combined a mixture of country with classic rock. 

Currently performing as Jess Wingenette, David along with his solo performances has incorporated Tami Poortman female vocalist as well as a duo with Seth Taylor and also Richard Erbe forging a dynamic blend of instruments and musical styles bringing a whole new energy and diversity into the mix blending styles of the oldies with progressive rock.  They are highly versatile, creative guitarists and energetic entertainers. Through their different musical influences they have the ability to bring a broad range of styles and genre to their performance.


Rick and David have developed a 4 piece acoustic band including Virgi Dart female lead vocals and Mitch Weiner on Percussion.  They bring with them some tasty sounds and rhythms that gives this group a unique sound.  This new group has a vast and expanding repertoire that allows them to cover nearly all requests.

MITCH WEINER
Drums, Acoustic and Electronic Percussion

Rick “ Rocket Man” started in music as a percussionist, but moved to classical guitar, receiving a music scholarship to the University of Tampa.  While in college he began playing guitar and singing in rock bands.  He grew up in the south so his influences are southern rock sound from bands such as Edwin McCain, Pat McGee Band, Sister Hazel and Von Ray. 

Mitch has worked in various capacities in the music industry for over 30 years.  As a recording studio owner, producer and engineer in Boulder Colorado for 8 years to performing in bands as a professional drummer for over 28 years in Los Angeles, Austin Texas, Boulder/Denver Colorado and Portland Oregon.  Mitch has been involved in all aspects of live performance from audio sound systems, lighting, booking agencies, talent acquisition to live video screen performance.  He has also been extensively involved with producing and engineering music for film, video, advertising and CD’s.  Mitch brings decades of music experience to the Jess Wingenette band.  Mitch’s unique drumming style brings an acoustic Latin percussion setup to this band as well as the use of electronic sounds.  His use of the ZENDRUM instrument utilizes some of the latest electronic sounds and efx.  Mitch’s interests also include interior design, travel, hiking, biking, art and painting.

Virgi, one of the most amazing performers in Colombia, has had the opportunity to perform on the most grand stages in her hometown, Cali. Prior to moving to the US, Virgi headlined at the most prolific disco group in Colombia allowing her opportunity to perform with some of the most well-known artists in Latin America. 
 Virgi is excited to bring her professionalism, talent, and commanding stage presence to her newfound home in Colorado.
